Making a Lokaj

Lokaji are creatures born of divine will - no Lokaj is capable of producing another Lokaj through any means. Instead, Lokaji are forged as weapons by gifted smiths known as Steelchanters.

As the name implies, Steelchanters chant, or sing, to the metal when forging a weapon, and sometimes, as a result of their effort, the metal will sing back, and thus come to life as a Lokaj. All Lokaji are limited to their weapon form until they are bonded to their human wielder, their Handler.

To create a Lokaj, you must commission a Steelchanter. Each Steelchanter will have an Exemplar available, and will require you to submit materials to constitute the other Exemplar. They will then begin forging, resulting in two Casts that are a combination of the two Exemplars.

Lokaj Casts

When you commission a Steelchanter, they will present you with two Casts, out of which you must choose one. This Cast determines what the Lokaj will look like once it forms a bond and gains the ability to take on its living form. See the text below to discover how to read casts.

Tip: Your Lokaj has no markings or patterns determined by their cast. Rather, you may choose up to three unexpected patterns and one remarkable pattern selected from the range of your Lokaj's origin region - the region where their Steelchanter is located.

The size category of the Lokaj as well as the type of animal making up its front half.

Heraldic ...

The animal making up the Lokaj's hind half.

In weapon form, this will be an animal carved into the weapon somewhere visible.

Wings of ...

The material the Lokaj's front half is composed of.

In weapon form, this will be the material of the blade, bow grip, or shield trim/boss.

Limbs of ...

The material the Lokaj's hind half is composed of.

In weapon form, this will be the material of the weapon grip, bow limbs, or shield body.

Granted ...

All Lokaji are granted ardour. A select few might obtain special abilities, which will be listed here.

F 00, D 00 ...

The Lokaj's stats: Force, Dexterity, Resilience, Acuity, Witchery. They are decided based on a roll between the two parents' stats.

On this page, you can see the currently available Steelchanters. To request a Cast from any of them, you will need to fulfil the following conditions:

At least one of your Handlers must be present in the region the Steelchanter is in.
Your Handler must have visited the location the Steelchanter is in at least once.
- This is proven by providing a link to at least one art piece where your character visits the location of the Steelchanter, for whatever purpose.
You must have a reputation of at least +25 with the Steelchanter's Stronghold.
