Factions

Who will your actions please, and who will they anger in turn?

Factions

Develesja is home to many influential groups, ranging from noble clans to knightly orders. The nation is eternally trapped in a delicate fight for balance between the bids of every noble with one too many favours, every landowner with too valuable a resource, and every cleric with too favoured a god. The Margrave and the Queen maintain this balance with as much grace as they can muster, but with your character's actions in Develesja, you, too, will have to join the nation's political games.

Reputations

Find the list of existing factions below, and view their seats of residence, their priorities, and descriptions. Heed the rules in the below-positioned box: Your reputation with Develesja's faction influences certain parts of the game. Reputations are counted per Handler, with Lokaji being exempt.

Your actions during gameplay will add or subtract reputation points. Reputation is counted on a scale of -100 to +100. Your character starts at 0 reputation (Neutral) with any factions they are not a member of, and 50 reputation with your regional government.

+150 reputation: Membership

+100 reputation (Max): Bid for membership available

+50 reputation: Bid for homestead available

+25 reputation: Steelchanter available

0 reputation: Neutral

-50 reputation: Banned from entering residence

-100 reputation (Min): Attacked on sight

Known Factions

Below, you will find a list of known factions, sorted alphabetically. Factions are referred to by their place of residence.

Rurik's Stronghold

Northeastern SH

Knightly order

Rurik and his pages form what is left of a once grand knightly order. Nevertheless, he insists on training his young apprentices to the best of his ability.

Rurik favours compassion, helping those in need, and avoiding conflict when possible. His apprentices, often 'unsuccessful' heirs cast out by their families, have found new bonds among themselves, and Rurik's 'order' feels more like a family when viewed from the outside.

Sunset Bastion

Southern SH

Knightly order

The Hawks of Winter are a ruthless order formed around the Veletan family and dedicated to the protection of Eclipsed Brass ore, the deposits of which their fort is built upon.

Ruthless, merciless, and blunt. Those are the Hawks of Winter, their sole purpose apparently lying in damaging or destroying political opposition. They use the advantage given to them by their fort's positioning to the maximum. The order members are neither kind to outsiders nor to each other.

Veles' Tower

Northern SH

Nobility

Straznovi are a strange lot, ever hidden within the confines of their tower. Still, their counsel is valued greatly by the Margrave, and they hold significant political influence due to this.

The Straznovi family are clerics, scholars and spiritual leaders. They harness their knowledge, mostly for good, but are well-aware of their political influence. They keep their cards close to their chest, and never play them until the very last moment.

Slunovrat

Southwestern SH

Knightly order

The Knights of the Solstice, led by the Yanev family, form a cheerful but politically fierce band of warriors in what used to be part of Sladké TůnÄ›.

The knights host balls and social events virtually weekly. You will never again yearn for wine, entertainment, or women and men if you join this faction. However, do not let the Yanevs' cheerful demeanour fool you: They are not fond of weak links and loose ends. Be careful you do not become either.

Svetlovor

Western SH

Government

The Margrave of Sivá Hora and her court reside here, where looming towers and cobbled streets pierce the untamed wilderness of Sivá Hora.

Svetlovor is the only faction which cannot be joined. Rather, the faction reflects your character's standing with the government of Develesja - let its favour get too low, and you may suffer dire consequences.

Velmir Keep

Northwestern SH

Royal guards

The Margrave's guards, officially called Perunova Hradba, are a reclusive lot, especially after Isobela's recent disappearance. They say they only accept the most elite warriors among their ranks.

Joining the Hradba is no easy task, and members must give up much for the privilege of serving the Margrave - their privacy, freedom of travel, and, if needed, their lives, too. Training is tough, punishments harsh, and discipline razor-sharp.
